In the summer of 1993 I discovered a small publication that was being distributed through the Royal Bank. This book, installed next to the 'instant teller' in a plexi-glass wall display, could be obtained at most branches. It was a listing of all the instant tellers one could frequent across the province of Quebec, '24 hours a day, 365 days a year'.The book's format and accessibility intrigued me. With a ready-made display and seemingly limitless audience, one could easily substitute the Royal message with...anything.That fall I began collecting these books. While preserving their original cover, I inserted my own pages and returned the anonymously transformed version back to the display, to be discovered by another potential instant teller customer.
