AXENÉO7 presents Études phénoménales, curated by Éric Mattson with Mathieu Beauséjour and Jean-Pierre Aubé. At the heart of the exhibition is an exploration of the Sun as the principal driving force of life, a source of concern and the subject of detailed studies of its diverse emanations. The Sun is also an archetypal emblem of humankind’s thirst for power. In these varied situations, the Sun exerts a fabulous, enormous and foundational—but possibly also destructive—attraction. As part of Études phénoménales, Mathieu Beauséjour presents Icarus ou une allégorie de la chute du capitalisme, a multi-faceted installation which takes root in mythology in order to better address the thorny question of capitalism’s downfall. For his part, Jean-Pierre Aubé presents 31 soleils (Dawn Chorus), a video and audio installation from which emanate literally thousands of frequencies present in the atmosphere at the moment of the Sun’s rise. The artists thanks the Conseil des Arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts and Atelier Clark for their support.
That same night and at the same address, two events you don’t want to miss:
The concert «MUSIQUES ACCIDENTELLES » with Trio Virgule (Gatineau) and Vente de feu (Québec city) at DAÏMÕN’s STUDIÕ at 8:30 PM.
