TERMINAL01 CURATORS
Michael Alstad and David Jhave Johnston
have worked together in numerous site-specific and new media
projects since 1992 with both the Symbiosis Collective and Year Zero One.
BIOS
Michael Alstad
is a Toronto based artist and curator working in installation
and digital media. He is a founding member of the Canadian
artist collectives Year Zero One and Symbiosis. Michael has
co-ordinated several site-specific projects in Toronto including
The Clinic(95), The Bank of Symbiosis(97), The Hoarding Project(98)
the Transmedia video billboard exhibitions(00, 02), Teletaxi
(03) and Geostash (04). Michael co-ordinated the exhibition
component of The Subtle Technologies Festival for
two years where he co-curated the Signal and Subtance exhibitions
in affiliation with InterAccess
Electronic Media Arts Centre. His web/video works have
been included in many international media arts festivals and
on-line exhibitions.
David Jhave Johnston
is a multimedia-poet currently living in Montreal. He has
been involved in numerous collaborative and solo digital and
in-situ art practises, exhibiting commissioned works with
(among others): Champ
Libre, Bioteknica, Turbulence.org, Ciac, FILE,
ContinentX, ActiveText,
Symbiosis, Zoi.... His work has been exhibited at 2 new media
Biennales: Montreal '03 & Toronto '04. In 2000,
he returned to university to get a science education and graduated
in the spring of 2004 with distinction from Concordia University
with a Bachelor of Computer Science, minor in Digital Image
and Sound. Johnston curated the code
exhibition - an open-source online art exhibit hosted
by year01.
